The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has announced Maxx Taga as one of ten 2020 New Faces of Civil Engineering in the College category! Maxx attended the UHM College of Engineering and received BS in Civil Engineering in Fall 2019.
Maxx has explored a wide variety of fields, working as visual effects artist on films including Fantastic Four and The Revenant; analyzing football statistics on Pro Football Focus; and interning at NASA, Disneyland, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, and the Department of Defense. Although civil engineering was not his initial subject of interest, his work through engineering internships that encompassed responsibilities such as anchorage design and environmental water documentation of rides opened his eyes to the numerous possibilities within the field. Now, Taga sees the skills he’s acquired pursuing civil engineering as an opportunity to combat the challenges posed by climate change. See UH news coverage. Congratulations to Maxx!
