Congratulations to Helaleh won EWC scholarship

Congratulations to Helaleh Khoshkam who won East-West Center (EWC) scholarship (Foundation Fellowship)! Helaleh is a PhD candidate in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Sayed Bateni.  During her PhD project, Helaleh has developed novel artificial intelligence-based techniques to forecast evapotranspiration and rainfall in Hawaii. Accurate forecasts of these variables are used in the CropManage online irrigation scheduling tool. This work has significantly contributed to reducing water consumption while enhancing both crop yield and quality. She is committed to ensuring that research outcomes are not only scientifically sound but also practical for local communities. In addition, Helaleh was the recipient of the 2021 WRRC Doak and Richard Cox Award. Congratulations!
