The University of Hawaii at Manoa ASCE Student Chapter was awarded the 2017 Richard J. Scranton Outstanding Community Service Award. This award was named in recognition of Richard J. Scranton who promoted community service as an integral part of student chapter activities. The UH-Manoa Chapter exemplifies the tradition of public service. Congratulations to our ASCE Student Chapter and its advisor Dr. Roger Babcock!


Congratulations to Mohammadreza Hashemi (Pasha), PhD student in transportation for having been selected the winner of the ITE Western District Student Paper Award. He will be presented with a plaque at the annual meeting in San Diego and receive a check for $500. Pasha is the president of the ITE Student Chapter at UH. His advisor is Dr. Ricardo Archilla.


Congratulations to UH men’s volleyball team for reaching the national semifinals! Major contributor to the victories has been No. 21 player, CEE senior Kupono Fey.

The 6th Workshop in A‘o in Engineering series- Alaka‘ina a me wahi noho like o ka poʻe: Leadership and community will be held on May 5, 2017 from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in Holmes 244.  The distinguished guests will be Dr. Michael Chun and Dr. Kā‘eo Duarte. Both are of Hawaiian ancestry and earned their PhDs in engineering. Join us as they share their experiences earning their engineering degrees, their path in industry, and how they connect their Hawaiian identity with giving back to the community. The workshop is open to all NHSEMP students and teacher education candidates in mathematics, science, and technology.
